Full Version: My Son has a JOB
ks_thumper
My son just came in and told me he received news he is to interview and start work tomorrow night at the New Taco Bell Restuarant in Prat... about 20 miles away from home....

This is going to be hard for me... He is a great hard worker. He has worked for farmers around here for the last 4 or 5 years.... Has mowed lawns since the time he had to stand between the bars lol and things... But this is the first real need for social security card and 2 types of ID job he has ever had....

I am feeling the Empty Nest Syndrome kicking in lol ... Why do our babies have to grow up? LOL I know it happens I have two others that are older.... But he is my BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the baby is the hardest but we do seem to get use to it. My boys are grown and for me thankfully they still live at home. They do come and go as they please which gives me worry but at least they are home most nights. Hang on MOM, just keep praying for them and Hang on!

It is tough dealing with the empty nest syndrome! Last September my son moved to Boston (35 miles from here) got his first apartment and entered his PhD program at the Boston College grad school. I cried like a baby! 2 Days after he left my daughter went back to college and lives in the dorms. She is coming home on Tuesday for awhile then will be leaving in June to work in New York. We went into Boston tonight and had dinner with my son and I do feel a sense of pride to see how well he's doing. It was really emotional at first but I kind of like it now, lol. When the kids visit it is always a special time. When my son went to college back in 2001 I dealt with it okay because my daughter was still here. It is too quiet around the house! I never thought I'd say that! I'm looking forward to mother's day because the gang will all be here for that and because it's my DD's 21st birthday.
It does get better but I can empathize with you. The birds leaving the nest is sad but wonderful because you have to know that you helped them become who they are and gave them the tools to grow.
What I want to know is why menopause and empty nest kick in around the same time. We get emotional enough and then have our babies leave, lol.
Congrats on your boy's first real job!!!

I have the opposite problem. I am going to leave the nest! I am giving the house to my daughter. She wants to stay in this area and there is no way she can afford to rent a place. I will be moving in with my B/F about 45 minutes away. Not sure when though. the house there is still being remodeled and I will not live in that mess!
