| Biker Donates Hair to Cancer Kids Posted: May 7, 2008 06:02 PM YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Yakima biker parted ways with a big portion of his hair today. He donated it to cancer patients in need. It ended up being about ten inches of hair that Charles Kralik was able to donate. This isn't the first time he's done this. Two years ago he donated about 19 inches of hair. Today he was a little nervous to before the haircut, but said it's definitely easier than the first time. "With all the tatoos I've got this is probably the most painful thing I've ever done in the last year," said Kralik. That pain Charles is talking about is seeing his long hair being cut off. This is the second time he is donating his hair to locks of love. He did it the first time for his ex-wife's sister who is a cancer survivor. "I always told her if I ever got it cut that I would donate it to cancer kids," said Kralik. "I think it's cool. I think it's nice donating to cancer kids," said his son Chance. Hairstylists at Meadowbrook Salon say donating hair is a growing trend. "It's for the kids. I mean help those who can't help themselves," said Kralik. Charles also had some words of wisdom for those who were thinking about donating their hair but are afraid to take the plunge. Kralik says, "It's just like jumping in a cold pool. You know it's going to be cold, but you just do it and get use to it. Once you're in there its not bad. Its alright." Then the moment of truth came and his new hair was revealed. He said, "I love it. It looks great. She did a wonderful job. I can't wait to do it again in another two or three years." Charles says if his boss lets him grow it out he plans to do it all over again in two years. |
