Full Version: Home made cat scratching post
almsthr
When we got Lilly nice scratching posts were (and still are) expensive. Since she was going to be staying inside, and to save the furniture I made her something to take out her frustrations on! This leans up against the wall so it doesn't take up much floor space.

Instructions

Get a piece of plywood about 15" or so wide and 5' to 6' long and a strip of carpet 2' longer and just as wide as the board. Fold carpet over the board with a foot at either end. Attach the carpet with tacks, screws or nuts and bolts, what ever you have. Make sure there is nothing sharp to hurt the cat's feet sticking through the carpet. I use huge rubber bands. Lean up against the wall and that's it!

We move ours so Lilly can climb up it and get to the window sill.
