Full Version: Is everyone's kids back in school?
sassycajunchic
My daughter started back today. Wow, Hard to believe that she is now in the 6th grade. She said she loved it and had a wonderful time. My step-daughter started on Friday and she is in the 8th grade this year and I have a 4 year old grand daughter starting pre-k at my daughter's school on Friday. LOL. What would we do without children keeping us busy:). I was just curious as to what was going on with everyone elses children and school.

Well, I took a giant leap into the unknown in reagrds to school this year...I'm Homeschooling! Can't tell you how it is yet because we're starting next Tuesday, but my son is happy, excited, and can't wait to start. I can't ask for more than that.

I hope the homeschooling goes well for you. I have always wondered how that worked and what you do to be able to let your child be homeschooled. Let us know how you like it once you start and get adjusted to it.

Guess we'll see how it went this afternoon and I'm doing this emo-emo-CROSS.gif

Congrats Kris that's a big step and depending on the school system by you it could be the best for your child in the long run (There is NO way my son would hold still long enough for home schooling)!

Awwww, Minkotta...1st grade, that's such a big year! I know I balled my eyes out when I left my son in 1st grade. My heart goes out to you.

As for the homeschooling, I'll let you all know how it goes. My son is 12 and he has been BEGGING me to homeschool him for over 2 years now. He's attended a very small private christian school all his life, so really, it won't be too big of a transaction.

My son has ADHD and a possible learning disabilty. School has been very hard on him over the past few years. He's a wonderful, thoughtful, loving, and caring boy, but he just can't get his energy under control. His self-esteem has hit an all time low and I just couldn't watch it any longer. So, thats where the homeschooling has come in. Ever since we told him we would do it, he's been a different person. He is soooooo happy. He helped pick out his curriculum and can't wait to start. He is actually learning to love learning again, without worring about being able to sit still.

Geez...I really rambled on here. Hee Hee. Just thought I'd fill you in about us:)

Oh, Sassy...depending on the state your in, homeschooling isn't that hard. There are tons of homeschooling curriculums out there. In fact there is TOO much out there and I had a hard time picking. I have an education background, but you really don't need that until the high school years. I've learned ALOT about it over the past few months and everything I've read or heard has been possitive.

I know several people who homeschool thier children and all have had nothing but positive things to say about it. It does take a lot of time to do it but worth it.

It has been years since mine were in school. I do have a son-in-law who is starting his masters. A duel in MBA and Computer technologies.

I also am glad to say the twins have finally ben accepted into TCC (Tulsa Community College} pre-school program. They have been on the waiting list since before they were born. And when the time comes their baby brother will go there too. My daughter is due Nov. 21st.
