If You Bought Gasoline In The State Of California At Any Time from 1995
Through August 11, 2005 Your Rights May Be Affected By A Proposed Class
Action Settlement
There is a proposed settlement in a class action lawsuit involving Union Oil
Company of California and Unocal Corporation ("Unocal"). The class action
claims that Unocal unlawfully manipulated the California gasoline market for
summertime reformulated gasoline resulting in higher gas prices.
Under the proposed settlement, Unocal will pay $48 million to settle the
lawsuit. There will be no money paid to consumers because the cost of
sending small reimbursements to millions of class members is prohibitive.
Therefore, the money will be paid to one or more charitable organizations
dedicated to improving air quality in California.
Your Rights
If you are a class member and do nothing, you will remain in the class
action and be legally bound by the settlement and you will not be able to
sue or continue to sue Unocal about the legal claims in this case. If you
stay in the settlement, you may object to all or part of it by November 7,
2008.
You may choose to exclude yourself if you do not wish to be bound by the
settlement.
The detailed notice available here
<http://www.unocalse ttlement. com/ProposedSett lementNotice. htm> explains how
to exclude yourself or object.
